WBS 1 · MIDS intake
QR canvasses, calculated in the field.
Paper USGS canvasses for cement, copper, sand, and gravel — plus the GEO-5 twelve-line sheet — now open from a poster on the pit gate. Scan, fill, ingest. No accounts. No personal names.
01
Print QR poster
Each canvass gets a site-locked poster. Scalehouse, kiln control room, mill office.
02
Scan
Phone camera opens the matching form with the site already bound. No login, no names.
03
Capture + calculate
Commodity fields only. Clinker factor, payable copper, dry tonnes compute as you type.
04
Ingest
Snapshot writes to the public MIDS table. Command desk and census pick it up.
Canvasses
WBS 1.2.1–1.2.4 plus the GEO-5 combined sheet.
Cement
Clinker, portland, blended, masonry. Kiln and finish-mill utilization. Clinker factor.
Copper
Ore milled, head grade, recovery, concentrate, SX-EW cathode. Contained and payable copper.
Construction sand
Twelve USGS end-use lines. Moisture-adjusted dry tonnes. Concrete vs asphalt split.
Construction gravel
Twelve USGS end-use lines. Road base, fill, ballast. Dry tonnes and value.
GEO-5 twelve-line canvass
Sand and gravel on one sheet — 12 end uses, two product columns. The GEO-5 operator canvass.
Print a site poster
Pick a canvass. The QR encodes that form and a sample atlas site. Field kit can bind any mine or census operator the same way.

Requirement verification
Critical Minerals Team backlog — MIDS Intake & QR Code Technology for Survey Process. All seven lines are live in this desk.
| WBS | Task | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Setup QR Code Technology for Survey Process — improve intake accuracy and reliability | Met | Paper canvass → QR deep-link → calculated fields → public MIDS table. |
| 1.1 | Research and select QR code generation platform / library | Met | Selected qrcode (MIT, client-side). AWS Lambda QR and End User Messaging rejected — offline field kit. |
| 1.2 | Design QR workflow: Copper, Cement, Sand and Gravel — GEO-5 twelve-commodity form | Met | Scan poster → /mids/{form}?site=CODE → capture → ingest. |
| 1.2.1 | Cement — UI & calculated fields. Review forms for intake. | Met | USGS 9-4002-A: clinker factor, kiln/mill utilization, apparent consumption. |
| 1.2.2 | Copper — UI & calculated fields. Review forms for intake. | Met | USGS 9-4052-A: contained / recoverable / payable Cu, concentration ratio, SX-EW split. |
| 1.2.3 | Sand — UI & calculated fields. Review forms for intake. | Met | Twelve end-use lines, dry tonnes, concrete/asphalt/road split. |
| 1.2.4 | Gravel — UI & calculated fields. Review forms for intake. | Met | Twelve end-use lines aligned to the GEO-5 canvass. |
1.1 Library decision
Field tablets at a scalehouse often have no AWS session. qrcode generates posters in-browser, prints without a network hop, and encodes a deep link into the matching canvass. AWS API Gateway + Lambda QR, End User Messaging, and Google Chart QR all require a round-trip and fail offline.
- Selected
qrcode npm
MIT. Offline. PNG download + print. Already in the field-kit stack.
- Rejected
AWS API Gateway + Lambda QR
Needs IAM, a billed endpoint, and a network. Adds latency at the pit gate.
- Rejected
AWS End User Messaging
SMS/QR campaigns, not mineral canvasses. Personal contact data we refuse to collect.
- Rejected
Google Chart QR
Deprecated, network-bound, third-party image host.
